A Few Words About Me
Erika Jackson is a co-founder and the CEO of Supreme Physical Therapy and Wellness Rehabilitation Center, LLC, in Houston, TX. She graduated Magne Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Health Science degree and a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT), both from the University of Hartford. She is also certified in LSVT BIG, which improves the functional independence of patients with Parkinson’s Disease through increased amplitude and velocity of movement.
As an adolescent, Erika tore her ACL while playing basketball in an Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) tournament and underwent reconstructive surgery. This injury and her recovery changed the course of her academic focus from mechanical engineering to health science; she began to connect education to injury prevention and the preservation of physical health. So, even as an Athlete of the Year in 2008, she understood the fundamental link between science, technology, and physical health or well-being. As a college student, she participated in the Student Diversity Internship Program at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), focusing on policy related to human health, and also assisted with the rehabilitation of young athletes at DeMatha High School in Hyattsville, MD, some of whom became professional athletes. Additional early defining experiences and achievements include winning 1st Place in the Baltimore Engineering Cargo Plane Contest (2008) and being a NASA Scholar (2011).
As a member of a research team at the University of Hartford, Erika was a 2015 DPT scholarship recipient and developed an instructional manual to be used by individuals with lower-limb amputations in Mexico, Peru, Kenya, and West Africa. She then co-authored a related article published in 2015, titled “Prosthetic Training Across Borders.”
Throughout 10 years of clinical experience, Erika has had the opportunity—as lead physical therapist—to provide skilled services to patients in numerous clinical settings, including in-patient, sub-acute, skilled nursing, outpatient, and home health. Providing care in this breadth of settings has also allowed her to treat individuals in a wide age range, from pediatric to geriatric to professional athlete. Some of her achievements include pre-season training with former NBA star TJ Ford and the TJ Ford Academy in Fresno, TX. Here, she provided Injury Prevention Training to high school, college, and professional basketball players returning to play and educated their athletic trainers on pain management, including those of the Brooklyn Nets and Houston Rockets. Her extensive experience with various populations and in numerous settings contributed to her ultimate mission of not only of restoring function but also of educating patients to become the healthiest versions of themselves. In her free time, Erika enjoys bike riding, song writing, and wardrobe styling.

Went to See Dr. Mathis for the first time and I can say it was a great appointment. I explained my area of pain. Dr. Mathis educated me on the injury I incurred and the treatment plan that we were going to take in order to fix the problem. Every movement we made she made sure I was comfortable and further explained how that particular would help me. A 1000 times over I will recommend to anyone who has sustained an injury.Posted on Tanya ThompsonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I was in a lot of pain. Dr Mathis did acupuncture (my first time) and 30-45 minutes later it was almost gone. She gave me things I could do to keep it from returning and takes my insurance.Posted on Krystyn BooneTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
